Residents of Barangay Kinitaan in the municipality of Upi, Maguindanao Del Norte, now have access to a reliable and clean water source, thanks to the turnover of a solar-powered water system level II worth P3 million.
The Bangsamoro government’s Ministry of Indigenous Peoples’ Affairs (MIPA) handed over the completed project to barangay leaders. The project, funded under the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao-Special Development Fund (SDF) CY 2021, was allocated to MIPA, which funded the construction of the water system.
The Level II water system can produce 4,000 liters of clean water, benefitting at least 1,377 residents. Barangay chief Mars Mariano expressed gratitude and hoped for more projects to uplift lives in far-flung communities.
BARMM Chief Minister Ahod Balawag Ebrahim reaffirmed the government’s commitment to bringing essential services closer to constituents, especially the indigenous peoples community.
